Help us Raise Funds!

We’ve recently joined Easyfundraising, a scheme that helps social enterprises raise funds as our supporters shop. It works by supporters signing up to Easyfundraising, and whenever you spend at various retailers, a percentage of what you spend comes to us. It’s free for you, the donations come from the retailers, not directly from you. You can find out more and sign up using the link below.

New Wellness in Nature Groups

We are absolutely thrilled to let you know that our big National Lottery bid that we were waiting on was successful!!! The funding will allow us to run two new FREE Wellness in Nature groups, for two whole years!

Our Wellness in Nature program is a blend of Forest School, bushcraft, nature connection, arts and crafts and therapeutic techniques, designed to help improve mental health and wellbeing for participants. Some sessions will also be joined visiting artists and practitioners who will lead workshops and help us learn new skills and techniques. We also cook and eat lunch together every week.

The groups are open to adults (18+) in Leicester and Leicestershire, who may be struggling with their mental health or wellbeing, or feeling lonely or isolated. If transport costs are an issue, let us know and we may be able to help out.

Please spread the word, and get in touch if you would like to come along to a session and see if the groups could be for you.

Thank you so much to the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund for making these groups possible.

April Events

Happy Easter to any of you celebrating today. 🐤

We have lots of events and sessions coming up throughout April to tell you about.

🌿First off, we are super excited about our rescheduled Spring Woodland Retreat with @freyayoga_ . This is now on Saturday 29th April, when the woodland will be in full blooming mode! Join us for a morning of peaceful relaxation, gentle crafts, and a bit of time just for you.

🌿Next Saturday (15th) is our monthly Family Forest School session. This month we will be making log dogs, foraging for pakora ingredients, and practising our bug ID skills as they start to emerge after winter. Under threes are free, and your firs session with us is half price at just £5.75 per person.

🌿Our regular groups also return after the Easter break. Wellness in Nature is a supportive group for people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. We meet on Monday mornings, and sessions include “second breakfast” and lunch cooked on the fire. These are no cost sessions.

🌿And finally, our Thursday Stay and Play sessions for Highfields residents are a great chance to play together in a beautifully wild but safe space right in the heart of Leicester. There is no cost for these sessions.

🌿As always, get in touch if you’d like more information or to book any of our sessions, and we hope to see you soon!

New Workshop Space

We are so excited to let you know that we have just secured a workshop space at Belgrave Hall in Leicester! For those of you that live in or around Leicester, we are sure you will know how fantastic the gardens at Belgrave Hall are, and we can’t wait to get out there and start to use them to help improve people’s wellbeing.

We will still be out and about delivering services, as this is an integral part of what we do to help make the outdoors more accessible to people, but having this space means that we will be able to reach new communities, and offer more public workshops and events.

As we are a Community Interest Company, funds are always tight, so we are asking for a bit of help with this one! We’ve set up a Gofundme page to help raise some funds towards the cost of the workshop space, and would be really grateful if you could spread the word or donate if you can. 💚

Our Gofundme!

Spring Woodland Retreat, including yoga with Freya

Our first retreat of the year promises to be a beautifully relaxing and energising Sunday afternoon.

We are so pleased to be joined by Freya again, to lead us through a nourishing yoga practice. Freya’s yoga is just delicious, and is sure to leave you feeling nurtured and restored.

There will also be an array of nature connection invitations and crafts, spaces to be quiet and still, and food and drinks from the fire. We aim to offer you the time, space and opportunity to fill your cup, soul and tummy full of good stuff.

Get in touch if you’d like to join us, we would love to see you there.

The Return of Creatives Playtime!

One of the first sessions we ever ran as Peace of Green (or PoG, as we affectionately call our little venture!), was a kind of grown up’s playtime, especially for people working in therapeutic or creative industries. We did this because we felt that people who spend most of their time looking after other people, or working to make people feel better, could probably do with a bit of their own medicine. Coming out of the pandemic, this felt especially important and timely

And so Creatives Playtime was born…

A few hours every couple of months for people to do as little or as much as they want. To just sit, be, play, chat, make or create in the woods. To be looked after instead of looking after for a short time. To breathe.

We loved it, and the people who came told us that they did too. We ran the sessions on donations, so money wasn’t a barrier and so that we felt that we were doing something to give back to those that give so much to others.

Last year we struggled to find time and space to fit many playtimes in, but it was still in our hearts and always on the list.

And so we are especially pleased to say that we are planning our first Playtime of 2023 on Saturday 18th February, 1.00 – 3.00 p.m, at our Nanpantan site. We are so looking forward to creating a special time and space for you, and hope that you’ll be able to join us.

Get in touch if you’d like any more information, or to book your spot, and we hope to see you soon x

Family Forest School

We hosted our first Family Forest School session in January, it was a great success despite being very cold! We’ll be holding these sessions on the third Saturday morning of every month, at our Nanpantan site. Sessions run from 9.30 – 12.00, which gives you plenty of time to relax in a hammock, learn some new skills, make a den and cook a snack on the fire.

Until April, you can book your first session HALF PRICE, at just £5.75 per person, with under three’s FREE. As always, all profits go back into the pot to support our work with vulnerable groups of people. As the cost of living crisis starts to hit home for people, your support really does make a difference to us and to the people we work with.

Our next session is on Saturday 18th February, get in touch if you’d like more details or to book.

Wellness in Nature Consultation

Peace of Green are currently applying for funding for an exciting new project for next year. The funding will allow us to run two outdoor wellbeing groups, for two years, for people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, or who are feeling isolated or lonely. It would really help us out to hear your opinions and feedback on our project proposals so that we can see if we are on the right track with our ideas. You can do this by completing our very quick survey at the link below. We appreciate your time and effort.

Merry Christmas Crafty Day

Join us on Saturday 17th December in the woods at Nanpantan, for family seasonal crafts, campfire snacks and drinks, and a bit of nature connection.
